COVID and Flu vaccination at Gray Hill and Magor Surgery 2022

COVID-19 VACCINATION:

The Practice will be supporting the 2022 COVID-19 autumn booster vaccination campaign over the coming months.

 

Eligible patients:

We will be offering the following patients a BOOSTER* vaccine at Gray Hill or Magor Surgery through the autumn:

*PLEASE NOTE WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO OFFER A BOOSTER VACCINE TO ELIGIBLE PATIENTS, WHO HAVE COMPLETED A ‘PRIMARY’ COURSE OF 2 (OR 3 FOR SOME PATIENTS) COVID-19 VACCINES.

 

Children (aged under 18):

If you are due a COVID-19 vaccination, you will be invited to an ABUHB Mass Vaccination Centre (MVC), when due.  Unfortunately, we are not able to offer COVID-19 vaccination to anyone under the age of 18 at the surgery, this autumn.  If you have any queries, please contact the MVC booking team on 0300 3031373.

 

Housebound patients:

We have been informed by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board that you will be contacted directly by the Health Board, when your vaccine is due, in order to arrange a house visit.  Housebound patients should call 0300 3031373 if they have any queries.  Unfortunately, we are not able to book or offer vaccines to housebound patients through Gray Hill surgery.

 

External Health and Social Care staff:

You should arrange your COVID-19 booster via your Occupational Health department or contact the Mass Vaccination Centre on 03003031373 if you have any queries

 

Patients who have not completed a primary course of COVID-19 vaccination (i.e. you have not completed the original 2 dose course, or 3 dose course if you are immunosuppressed):

You will need to complete the primary vaccine course, at the appropriate time interval, by attending a Mass Vaccination Centre.

 

FLU VACCINATION:

 

Flu vaccination season 2022-23 is approaching and The Practice will be offering vaccines to ALL ELIGIBLE patients.  School-age children (reception to year 11), who attend mainstream school will be invited to vaccination by the School Nurse

Eligibility for the vaccine - Public Health Wales (nhs.wales)

 

We expect to begin vaccinating in the first week of October.

 

We will be running several large vaccination clinics on specific Saturdays in October and November.

8th October

15th October

5th November

19th November

 

We will also be offering some weekday appointments at Gray Hill and Magor Surgeries.  We will offer some weekday EVENING appointments from Gray Hill surgery.

 

If you are eligible for a COVID-19 booster, you will be offered a flu vaccination at the same appointment.  It is safe to have a COVID-19 and flu 2022 vaccination at the same time.

 

HOW DO I BOOK MY COVID-19 BOOSTER / FLU JAB APPOINTMENT?

  1. I am Aged 50 or over:

You are eligible for a COVID-19 booster and the annual flu jab – please contact us at your earliest convenience to arrange your appointment.

*You can book your appointment via My Health Online this year!*

Click on our Klinik ‘contact us online’ portal and select the “COVID + Flu vaccination” option.

Please follow the instructions and we will arrange a suitable appointment for you.

 

Online booking is intended to reduce phoneline congestion, increase our team’s efficiency and to provide more flexible access for you when arranging your appointment.

If you are unable to contact us online, you can phone us on 01291 420282 as normal

 

  1. I am aged 18-49 years old:

Please check if you are eligible for a COVID-19 booster, before contacting us online (see guidance above) about an appointment.

If you are not eligible for a COVID-19 booster, you may still be eligible for a flu jab.  The booking process for the covid-19 and flu jab service at Gray Hill surgery is the same, so please contact us online if you require a flu jab, covid booster or both.
