Appointment System

If possible please pre-book a routine appointment for all but urgent problems. These are available up to a month in advance and some can be booked through the internet, but you must register for this service (NHS Wales My Health on Line) at the surgery. If you feel that your problem needs to be dealt with on the same day, please try to contact us before 11.45 am to book an appointment. All Doctors’ surgeries have a number of spare appointments for urgent cases but these are limited. Urgent problems can be seen at the Open Access (Doctor/Nurse) clinic, but we are unable to guarantee which Doctor or Nurse you will see.  You will be given a timed appointment.

Many problems of a more minor nature can be dealt with by our practice Nurses who work under the supervision of the Doctors. Many conditions, requests for advice and prescription authorisations can be dealt with over the phone, thereby avoiding a trip to the surgery. We will arrange for the Doctor or Nurse to telephone you back. Please ask the receptionists what type of appointment is best for you.

There are several alternatives to seeing the Doctor. Your case may be best handled by an appointment with a Nurse, one of the Chronic Disease clinics, a midwife, or another member of the team. Occasionally problems need to be referred directly to Hospital.

Please help us to help you. The reception staff are there to advise you on the most efficient and effective way to deal with your problem. You may be asked for brief details about the nature of your problem. This is to enable the reception staff to direct you to the most appropriate team member. If you feel unable to tell the receptionist, they will understand and you will still be offered an appointment.

Nurses - The nurses can be seen by appointment preferably by booking in advance although there is a facility for some patients to be seen on the day.
